With our 3-in-1 food intolerance test from QualityLAB24 you will find out how your genes influence the tolerance of foods containing lactose , fructose and gluten . Remember: It's not just about “I'm allowed / I'm not allowed to”, but about making conscious decisions for your health.

A simple cheek swab is enough!

We offer you an easy-to-use analysis: a simple cheek swab is enough and you will receive the test result within five working days.

How is the evaluation carried out?

The evaluation is based on a quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). qPCR is a fast and extremely sensitive method of DNA analysis. In this process, a specific section of DNA is isolated and replicated. In order to determine which variant of the gene to be examined you have, one or more dyes are added during the replication. These dyes dissolve again when the sample is heated. The fluorescence of the attached dye - the reflected light - is continuously measured during the heating process and provides information about which genetic variant is present in you. Depending on the variant detected, it can ultimately be determined whether or not you have a genetic predisposition to food-related intolerance.

Do you suffer from food intolerance?

One in five Germans often suffers from stomach pain , bloating and nausea after eating, caused by food intolerances . These arise when certain digestive enzymes are missing or the immune system reacts to food components. Common intolerances concern gluten , fructose and lactose . Causes can be an unbalanced diet, industrial food, medication or stress; some intolerances are also genetic, such as lactose intolerance , fructose intolerance or celiac disease . If you notice similar symptoms or family history of intolerances, our self-tests can provide information about congenital intolerances.

Further information

Lactose intolerance

Our lactose intolerance test quickly shows whether you suffer from primary, genetic lactose intolerance. This is caused by a lack of lactase, the enzyme that breaks down milk sugar (lactose) in dairy products. While infants normally produce a lot of lactase, this activity decreases after the age of two. With genetic lactose intolerance, lactase production decreases more with age, making it more difficult to digest milk sugar and leading to symptoms such as bloating, abdominal pain and diarrhea. The test examines a specific genetic variant in the lactase gene to detect or rule out intolerance.

Fructose

Fructose intolerance

Our fructose intolerance test helps you quickly and easily find out whether you suffer from congenital fructose intolerance. This intolerance is caused by a genetic deficiency in the enzyme aldolase B, which hinders the breakdown of fructose, a sugar found in fruits and honey. If aldolase B production is insufficient, symptoms such as nausea, abdominal pain and hypoglycemia can occur. Serious health damage is even possible if high fructose consumption is present. The test checks for specific genetic variants in the aldolase B gene to detect or rule out intolerance.

QualityLAB24 Gluten

Gluten intolerance (celiac disease)

Our gluten intolerance test quickly shows whether you are genetically predisposed to celiac disease, a severe immune reaction in the small intestine to gluten, a protein in many grains. Unlike lactose or fructose intolerance, which are caused by enzyme deficiency, celiac disease is an excessive immune response. In celiac disease, foods containing gluten cause inflammation and damage to the lining of the small intestine. Symptoms include intestinal problems, vitamin deficiencies, fatigue, weight loss and neurological problems. The test checks genetic variants to detect or rule out celiac disease.

Is there anything to consider?

Limits of the investigation:

Our tests simply define your existing genetic conditions. All of our human genetic tests only serve to clarify existing suspected cases. No predictive tests are carried out.
